Course Overview

Yoga, tantra, and ayurveda are all rooted in Samkhya philosophy, and its concepts are essential in understanding the context for study and practice.

In this mini-course, Pandit Rajmani Tigunait describes the major ideas of Samkhya, one of the six classical Indian schools of philosophy, and the oldest formulation of the ideas of even older revealed texts. In this 2 hour digital course, you will learn about:

  • The Vedic and non-Vedic philosophies of India
  • Why Samkhya philosophy is distinctive
  • The goal of Samkhya philosophy—freedom from pain and suffering
  • Removing pain: the doctrine of cause and effect and the techniques of yoga and ayurveda
  • The main features of Samkhya philosophy
